About the club from the club's website
Tom tells us what to expect when coming to the Shooting Park. It's a public facility, so everyone is welcome. Memberships are available but not required. All you need is a driver's license and a signed liability waiver . You can fill one out before you come or you can do it at the range. Check out the video to understand our expectations when you're on the range. We hope to see you soon!
The Heartland Public Shooting Park began in 2005 when the city of Grand Island purchased 420 acres of land at the former Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant from Hall County.
The county had recently become owner of the land, which had previously been used for manufacturing ammunition beginning in World War II.
The purchase was made possible with help from private foundations, local businesses and the Grand Island Skeet and Sporting Clays Club. The park opened that same year.
The city managed the shooting park for 19 years under the Department of Parks and Recreation. Although it continues to own the shooting park, Hornady Manufacturing took over management in 2024.
The Heartland Public Shooting Park manager, Tom Busch, is a familiar face to many. Tom previously served as Howard County sheriff
