Pacing of practice to conserve barrel?
Religious Shooter Apr 4 2004, 01:51 AM All of my practice has been with 100, 200 and 300 yard targets. A recent match match had a field course with the targets up to 40 yards or so and another stage was a pistol course with a rifle. I felt a bit awkward (I had recently changed rifles from a 16" to a 20" HBAR). I need to practice close targets (less than 40 yards). I know that if I repeatedly overheat the barrel the life (in terms of accuracy) of the barrel decreases greatly. How do you know when to stop and let the barrel cool off? Any strategies to combat this? John Du
