Monthly Rifle Training Course

RIFLE TRAINING: This course introduces athletes to the shooting positions used in CMP, NRA, and USA Shooting competitions, including 3-Position, 4-Position, and High Power events. Participants learn prone, standing, kneeling, and sitting positions, with emphasis on natural point of aim, bone support, sling use, and consistent body alignment. Every session reinforces firearm safety rules, range commands, and equipment handling. While designed to build a foundation for competitive shooters, the course also serves anyone seeking greater familiarity, confidence, and safety with firearms.

RANGE ADDRESS: 12135 Jarratt Road Atascosa, TX 78002

DIRECTIONS: These training events are held on the Blackhawk Shooting Range in Atascosa, TX (South West San Antonio). Take Exit No. 137 from I-35, “Shepard Rd”. As you drive on North on Shepard Rd. you will progress until you reach Jarratt Rd. Turn left (West) and go until you reach the bend in the road. Just past the bend is a sign for Blackhawk Range. Turn right on the gravel road and go approximately 3/4 miles to the range entrance. There are multiple shooting ranges on this property, STMT is the second to last range on the property. It is the only Range secured behind a Chain-link Fence.

REGISTRATION: Due to limited equipment and firing points we are limited 6 Shooters. Advanced Registration is required.

ENTRY FEES: Adults $25.00 | Juniors (U21) $15.00 | Entry Fee’s are per event, Per Athlete. Cost includes; Range fee, Targets, Loaner Rifle, and 22lr Ammunition.

RIFLES: Match Grade Rifles are provided. Athletes are allowed to bring their own rifles; however, the rifle must comply with caliber restrictions (22lr Only) and NRA/CMP Shooting Rules. If you are unsure if your rifle is legal, you may bring it with you and a determination can be made on sight. If you choose to bring a rifle, leave it in the vehicle until instructed to retrieve it.
