The Freedom Ranch TFR
FREEDOM RANCH 1333 STATE ROUTE 162 W NORTH FAIRFIELD, OHIO 44855 The Freedom Shack started in 2023 making precision rifle shooting bags and quickly expanded into other items for shooting sports. In late 2025 we have purchased 37.x acres of land to open a shooting range and construction is starting in January. We opened for our first USPSA Match in May of 2026 where we had 94 shooters come to compete! The vision for the range was that you'd feel like you've entered not only a range but a range where the people who own/run it take great pride in it. We want to offer a park like setting with clean bays, a pavilion, fire pit and a food truck at matches. A place you may even want to stick around after and grill some burgers with your friends. There are a total of 6 pistol bays. These are USPSA style bays where you run around and shoot in three directions. Those USPSA style/pistol bays are surrounded on three sides with large mounds of dirt. We have a 35 yard by 100 yard bay for rifle competitions. We typically run 6 Stages out of this bay for NRL22. 5 for the standard monthly course of fire and a bonus stage that is always 100+ yards. We have cleared the logging trails that exist in the woods. We are going to utilize the entire 37 acres for Sporting Clay shoots, walk through shoots, tracking schools etc. The long range has been cleared to 500+ yards with a back stop and we have the back stop built at 300 yards that cover the entire width of the 100 yard rifle bay. This will allow us to do NRLX/PRS style shoots through lanes that are cut into the wooded area behind the 100 yard bay. Our primary purpose is matches and training. We will offer all types of training from basic firearm safety to advanced USPSA/IPSC/NRL/Rimfire/Long Range. Do you have a favorite trainer that travels and offers training? We want to bring those people in and will offer our range and facility to other trainers. Just have them reach out to us. This is a link to Practiscore for all the matches we are currently holding. About the club from the club's website
The Freedom Shack was officially started in September of 2023.
I (David Buschur) am a US Army Veteran. I served as a Military Policeman, Military Police Investigator and SRT (also, designated sniper for the team). When myself and my partner in this, Chris Sheppard started competing we saw some things that we wanted changed. Some of those things included prices, designs of shooting support bags, safety items and other products and got started coming up with some fresh ideas.
All of our bags are all sewn in Ohio by Tara and Chris and as of April of '25. We also came up with affordable 3D printed ARCA plates and quick release clamps. The plates and bags are all designed in house. Brandon Dostal, another of our guys here, quickly got a grasp for 3D design and handles turning my ideas into reality.
We went from shooting just for pleasure with friends to taking some schools and competing in NRL22, PRS Rimfire and USPSA competitions. While competing in NRL we met a gentleman who finished in a 1st Place tie in the seasonal NRL standings in 2024. We asked if he’d try out our bags, which he agreed and gave us feedback. The Sandcastle was developed together with this gentleman to be the most stable stand alone and ARCA mounted bag you can buy, PERIOD. These bags have gone through hell, literally throwing them into obstacles with all the force we can to make sure they don’t fail. Some of these precision rifles weigh well in excess of 20 pounds with barrier stops, arca rails and other accessories that put extreme stress and rip a poorly designed bag. All of our current bags are made from rip stop waxed 10oz cotton canvas or our HD Canvas for really extreme use and heavy fills. They all come with a deep easy to fill velcro funnel inlet. We do offer our bags filled with a wide variety of fills, from sand to other optional polymer fills for shooters who need a lighter bag for missions, hunting or just making them easier to manage.
While competing in the NRL we continually saw competitors st
